Premature Baby

Safety and healthy development of your baby through our care

Premature birth can be opted for due to a number of reasons. Watching your little one be transferred to the incubator right after birth can be heart-wrenching. But it is always for the better chances of survival of your baby. At Giggles Hospital, we understand that it is stressful for you, but we are committed to providing the best care for your premature baby so that they can develop to become healthy.

Characteristics of Premature Babies

A birth is considered premature if the baby is born before 36 weeks or nine months. Normal full-term birth weight is usually 3 kgs. Premature babies are born with a weight of less than 2.26 kg and sometimes even as low as 1 kg. They require immediate intensive care and support in order to develop healthily as they would be for a normal gestation period.

The baby would likely have a bigger head in comparison to the body and fine hair. The baby might not have the protective layer on its body and may not yet be able to regulate bodily temperatures. After proper isolation in the NICU, you may take your baby home. It may even take about a month or two. But don’t worry. Always remember that your baby is in good hands.
