If you are going abroad for the first time for medical reasons, here are some facilities that can help you plan your trip nicely.
- Ask your doctor if it is appropriate to travel abroad with the medical conditions you have.
- Once you have decided to continue your treatment abroad, inform your local doctor so that you can continue your further treatment without restraint.
- When choosing an international hospital that best suits your needs, you should consider hospital accreditation, awards and recognitions, facilities and equipment, etc.
- Check the evidence and experience of the doctor treating you.
- Learn about the procedure and compare your expectations with those that can be achieved through surgery. Also find out about necessary care, recovery time, physical therapy, etc.
- Please note that in most cases the final decisions on your treatment will be made after the doctor meets you and examines you personally. Your doctor, after examining you, may decide that you are not fit for surgery or recommend treatment that is different from what you thought.
- Some documents should always be with you. Make sure you carry multiple copies of it and keep the originals in a safe place while abroad.
- Remember to take with you these medical reports and any medications, such as x-rays, MRIs, health histories, photographs, immunization records, prescriptions and other health records related to surgery.
